Your Doctor Friend

From medical bills to Make America Healthy Again, navigating health care and wellness today can be a lot. Ever wish you had a doctor friend you could text with those weird (and sometimes embarrassing) questions you can’t seem to answer anywhere else?
I’m a primary care doctor and I get a lot of texts from family and friends. They usually start something like this: “Hey, can I ask you a quick medical question?”
I get questions about sick kids and pictures of rashes. I’m asked to weigh in on second opinions (“Will it hurt my doctor’s feelings?”) and whether or not a trip to the ER is really worth it. The only questions I refuse to answer? Anything about pets. Humans are the only species I’m qualified to treat.
I truly love being able to help out. Health care is confusing, and it makes me feel good to help my loved ones navigate it. Sometimes an insider’s perspective can make all the difference.
That’s what Your Doctor Friend is all about. I take care of patients of all ages, from newborns to a few patients over 100! I’ve written about health care for years as an NPR contributor. And now, I write twice-monthly essays about navigating health care — and keeping it real as a doctor, mom, and human in the world.
